Giving abused, neglected and homeless animals shelter, healing and a second chance at life.
About Alaqua Animal Refuge
Alaqua Animal Refuge is a no-kill sanctuary in Florida that rescues, rehabilitates and rehomes abused, neglected and homeless animals.
Every year countless animals are abandoned, neglected or mistreated. Alaqua Animal Refuge was founded in 2007 on the belief that each of them deserves a second chance at a safe and loving life, and it has since found homes for thousands of animals in need.
Guided by the principle of shelter, safety and second chances, the refuge provides daily care and works to match each animal with the right home. Its remit is broad, taking in dogs and cats alongside horses, farm animals, rabbits, birds, small animals and tortoises, and it is an accredited member of the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.
The organisation reaches beyond its own gates through community outreach, accessible spay and neuter services, humane education and advocacy, helping to address the root causes of animal homelessness. It also raises awareness through its own podcast spotlighting people devoted to animal protection.
With demand always outstripping space, the refuge is expanding to a far larger site to help many more animals. Support funds medical care for special-needs cases, daily rescue work and the outreach that keeps animals out of crisis in the first place.
