Fresh thinking and bold action for animals, people and the planet we share.
About IFAW
IFAW, the International Fund for Animal Welfare, is a global charity rescuing animals and protecting the habitats that wildlife and people share.
Wildlife faces a tangle of threats, from trafficking and the exotic pet trade to poaching and the steady loss of habitat. IFAW sees these crises as bound up with human wellbeing too, and frames its work around animals, people and the shared places all of us call home.
Its response combines rescue with longer-term conservation. Teams rehabilitate and release animals in trouble, from orphaned wildlife to injured birds of prey, while broader programmes tackle the systems that put species at risk in the first place, across dozens of countries.
That work takes many forms. The Room to Roam vision aims to reconnect the landscapes African elephants need to move freely, Team Lioness supports women rangers on the front line, and partnerships such as the Beijing Raptor Rescue Center extend its reach, backed by training through its rescue and conservation academy.
Protecting wildlife and the places it lives also protects the communities and ecosystems that depend on them. With work spanning so many countries and causes, support helps fund rescues, ranger teams and habitat protection, and the bold, practical action that animals and people need.
