The role of volunteers in conservation often goes unnoticed, but this short documentary brings their vital work into focus. Inside the vivarium at Manchester Museum, volunteers work alongside scientists and curators to protect and care for rare and endangered amphibians, forming a deep connection with these often-overlooked, wonderfully quirky animals.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER

Fleur Cartwright is 23 years old and graduated from the University of Manchester in 2025 with an Honours degree in Zoology with Spanish. During her degree, she completed a placement year at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Panama, where she researched the role of mangrove ecosystems in global change. Her recent work focuses on science communication and natural history filmmaking, with a particular interest in environmental justice and human–wildlife connections.
